Main Lake Chain Provincial Park

Main Lake Chain Provincial Park is a beautiful setting for overnight canoe or sea kayak trips ranging from day trips, to one to five nights. Sandy beaches, fresh clean swimming water and stunnings scenery are the main attrcations for this area. OFA's Quadra Island Outfitters is the only shuttle service available that regularly services the Main Lake Chain via Village Bay Lake. Call to arrange your shuttle 250 285-3604.

Sea Canoeing Desolation Sound

Desolation Sound is a perfect destination for a canoe trip. With it's protected warm waters, incredible camp sites and stunning back drop, Desolation Sound can be the sea canoeing trip of a lifetime. Most of the camp sites require a rough hall out, and a canoe is incredibly easy to haul out. Dealing with only a few large canoe packs makes unloading a breeze and the canoe is simply lifted out of the water. The canoe is a stable platform for photography etc. or for those that are not quite comfortable in a sea kayak. Our rental canoes are large enough to handle a load of gear and still handle incredibly well and are easy to get in and out of.

Accessing Desolation Sound

Access Desolation Sound through Quadra Island. Reach Quadra Island from Campbell River (10 minute ferry ride). Take the ferry from Quadra Island to Cortes Island (50 minute ride, heading into the majestic coast mountain range.) Our outfitting base in located on Quadra Island, and is perfectly situated to begin your adventure. Rent your canoes and sea kayaks from our conveniently located shop on Quadra Island. Call to reserve your rentals or stop by to pickup maps and gear. We also rent tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves and more! Please reserve in advance to ensure availability.
